LEA, the European Large Deployable Reflector Subsystem (LDRS) is evolving quickly.
This image film shows how a 5m deployable reflector, 5m deployable arm, HDRM, harness, electronics, etc. – is under assembly, and – how this ambitious company HPS with its leader, Ernst Pfeiffer, started to prepare for the qualification campaign – reaching TRL8 for C/X-band applications by the end of 2020.
(Co-funded by H2020 program of European Commission) Their target is crystal clear in sight, and it’s nothing less than a global “FIRST”: – a rotating 8m LDRS, – operating from L- up to Ka-band!
On this road, the WeLEA Team is currently manufacturing under contract to ESA the – LEA-K8r Engineering Model (reflector “LEOB” plus arm “LADEA”), – reaching by end of 2020 TRL5 and TRL 6 by April 2021.
